Default Are rear hub assemblies the same for both wheels?

I need to replace the rear hub/bearing assembly in my C5. I found one on ebay, and was going to get two and replace both while I was at it. Does the same part number work on both sides...or is there a left and right side?

Thats not a true statement hoverer,, you can uses a rear hub on the front FRONT BUT,,,,,,,,,, you CAN NOT use a front on the rear. The connectors are also different front to rear..

Front HUB

REAR HUB

NOTE the hole in the center for the drive axle splines. The front hub does NOT have the hole for the axle shaft.

I have had a few 100k plus C5's and Z06's

I'll often use the old 'blue' caps from the hubs if the wiring gets damaged from road debris, they pry off as seen in Bill's pics

........also, the C6ZR1 uses the same f and r hubs IIRC, kinda funny to see the splines up front from GM

While it's possible to run the rear hub in the front, GM recommends against it for the standard hub. The C6ZR1 uses the SKF Race bearing, which is much stronger and can be used front and rear.

OP do your self a favor and do not purchase the crap Chineese hubs from Ebay. Spend a few extra $ and get SKF or Timken hubs from one of your local parts houses or search for them online. YOu will save yourseld a lot of $ in the long run.

The ones I am looking at on ebay are Raybestos hubs. Are they good or junk?

Great question!!! I take it for granted, but one of the only items I will buy from Autozone is the Timken wheel bearing/hubs

I must've swapped 100 in the past 10 years on C5's

Sadly people will pay over $500 from the dealer for a hub, on the high side(if racing/tracking) you could use the SKF ZR1 bearings

I stand corrected (above). I was thinking in terms of the SKF Race ones, which is what will go on my car if ANY of them go bad.
