8Vette7, you need to learn to lighten up, it's just a phrase...... When I meet him I will give him my favorite crow bar.. I didn't say hit him or beat him... What was on your mind........lol
I got rid of my message then guaranteed I won't ever get it again.
I sold my C5 and bought a C3. End of electrical and computer problems.
The fix is really easy, I installed the LMC5 and have never had an error code (column and pull key) issue again. I also have a c3 convertible and would never give it up for my c5. The LMC5 eliminates the temperamental issues with the c5’s electrical system. I think GM should buy this part and give to all c5 owners having trouble.
In one week (8 Days) I drove the car 3500 miles. I will drive this car another 25-30000 miles this summer and buy another one.
I called Richard yesterday and he's sending me the -R unit. He said that there are some C5's that are more susceptible to low voltage and eventhough mine starts right up, the tolerance between good and low is so small that a battery at rest may be .1 or .2 lower than the BCM likes and therefore I get the message. Richard was great and is willing to help me out. I am concerned because he said the -R unit was developed for 1997 to 2000 C5's mines a 2002. Hopefully I'll be OK. Everything seems to be going to sleep when the car is shut off.

I was one of the first to install that, matter of fact I started this thread to say how good it was. But now I have no more temperamental computers and electrical systems.
My car is a 97 A4 (63K) which never had any of the CL recalls. I keep the right spec battery in it, and it's always on a battery tender when in my garage. It always starts fine and never had the CL issue occur on me.
I have a CLB in my tool box, but never felt like actually installing it considering my cars been reliable. Now I'm growing leary with so much being said on this subject...and have order this new LCM5 to keep handy should I get bitten some day down the road. The CLB looked like it could have been messy on the interior panels if not done just right...such work is definitely not my comfort zone either
I find it interesting no previous owners of my car ever reacted to the CL recalls too. Perhaps none ever had a CL occur either, and just accepted things would be okay.
