Default Tire Combos

Just bought a set of reproduction Z06 wheels for my supercharged C5 coupe and am struggling to figure out what size tires to put on them to maximize traction and handling, while not messing up the active handling. I have narrowed the choices to two possible tire combo's, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them, or has any other combinations that work with these wheels.

The first is:

Front: 275 40ZR17 25.6"
Rear: 305 35ZR18 26.4"

Second:

Front: 245 40ZR17 24.5"
Rear: 315 30ZR18 25.4"

I know I can fit a bigger rear tire, but that would require wider wheels, and frankly I really like the look of the C5 Z06 wheels. Also, any thoughts on tire brands would be helpful.

Yes, same as stock Z06. 9.5" front, 10.5" rears.

Hi Be very careful when choosing tyres the difference should be about 0.75" I had a similar problem where the difference was not stock and the way the traction system works means that as the car goes faster the difference is effectively increased so the traction control would activate at 65 mph

Thanks for the info. Both choices have a diameter difference of .9" front to rear, so I figure I'm safe with either one. My main concern is how the car will look and handle. The first combo has wider fronts but narrower rears, as compared to the second choice and the tires are smaller in diameter on the second choice. I was hoping to hear from someone running one of these combinations.

I just took my 315's off, and im running 245's on the front. Everything was fine traction system wise so on and so forth. The 305 will do just as well for you though out back. I know the 315's are nice and all that but the 305 looks wise is darn near the same on the car and depending on the tire should hook just about the same basically. so basically to sum it up, haha i was just running your #2 choice with no issues what so ever, but now that im going to be buying tires here pretty soon im more than likely going to go towards your number 1 choice...........hope any of this helps haha.

With the Corvette's near 50/50 balance I would definitely go with the first choice.

Thanks for the help guys. I have decided to go with the first choice because I can run a wider and taller front tire, which should result in a better balanced car. In addition, the difference in width between a 315 Michelin Pilot Sport and 305 Nitto NT555R is .2".
