Forget the PRT'S. If you want a corvette that sounds like a race car and is deifferent sounding than anything else out there get the SLP'S. I would make a clip but I dont even know how to post a pic of my car under my sig.
Intelman34 posted this sound clip of SLP's on the C5 General Discussion Forum: "To give you an idea... this is the SLP Loudmouth on an otherwise stock (stock manifolds and dual stock cats) 1997 Z28: http://65.31.88.111/sounds/Z28all.wav
With shorty headers and an offroad pipe, it sounds really good!"
Also, I found this really good deal on a set of SLP's after I already ordered mine of course. I found in on the C5 Registry for sale page. I called them and they said that they would take $400 and that yes, they will pay for shipping. I had already ordered a new set though, but for someone still looking this sounds good.

Description
SLP Loudmouth exhaust, still in original package. Installed but never ran on the car. Wife's car, did not like. Sounds really good, just a little loud. Will pay for ground shipping. It's a steal @$450.
You can check out the first thread on the C5 General Discussion Forum, and the second on the C5 Parts For Sale/Wanted Forum. Hope this helps, I can't wait until mine arrive!
I'm sure everyone thinks what they spent their money for is the best. All I can tell you is I bought them, they're pretty loud, and I love 'em.
As I've said before, I didn't buy my Vette to be a station wagon, I want it to sound like a sports car.
I respect my neighbors, and just idle out of my garage, and down the street.
Good Luck deciding!
Has anyone here tired a Borla Exhuast? I've got one on my Z28 and it sounds awsome. Too bad Borla doesn't make adjustable plates for the C5 exhaust system like they do with the Camaro version.
I'm not tired of my Borla Stingers. Just the opposite. I can't get enough of them since I took off my Corsa Indy's. I wanted a trrue muscle car sound and I got it now.

As a former 98 Z28 owner who had the LM system with the LS1, the 97 and earlier Camaro had a louder exhaust note. LT1 vs LS1. I loved the LM on the Camaro and like it on the Vette even more. Not quite as raspy, maybe not quite as loud, but a deeper more race car sound. The LM on the Camaro had a "resonator" pipe while the Vette LM does not. The Vette is closer to a true dual exhaust than the Camaro. Gee, I sound like I know something about exhausts, but like a lot of other things I may be FOS. :seeya Nick
That is a good question, and I am a little disappointed that none of the Corvette magazines to the best of my knowledge have ever done a comparison test on all aftermarket C5 cat back systems out there. One of the mags should get a stock C5, and then take turns bolting on each of the different systems to the same C5 to see which one if fact does have the most hp gain. The SLP's are just straight pipes with no mufflers at all, so they in theory should at least provide the least amount of back pressure and in turn the most horsepower. Of course adding an X pipe in front of the SLP's would help even more by eliminating the H pipe which the Borla Stingers already do. I chose the SLP's because I wanted the highest hp, and I didn't want to have to cut any of the stock system. The fact that it is a very affordable system also helps. Later I may add the Bassani two piece X pipe which bolts right up, and gets rid of the pre-cats, cats, and H pipe. If one does that, you certainly would have the highest hp system, with only the stock exhaust manifold remaining which could also be replaced by headers. Let me know what you deciede.
Oh, forgot to mention, in reference to the difference between the sound on the A4 vs M6, I have been told that the only difference is that you get a little more resonance with the A4 because you can't shift around it like you can on an M6. I have never heard a set on an A4 personally though, so I am only relaying what I have been told.
Craig, I have the a4 w/ the SLP. It does have a lot of resonance. I too love the sound .I have the x-pipe and it just sounds awesome. I am thinking about a little sound insulation.
Congrats, you will love them  Are you going to buy them new or from the add I forwared? Make sure none of your neighbors have bad hearts or something!
