Nothing to do with temp. Not uncommon could be simple or very expensive. Have someone who KNOWS these cars check it out and save yourself a headache and money.
You may want to pull the codes from the DIC (Hold options, press Fuel 4 times) after an occurance. If you are considering buying a car with TCS issues, this can be a spendy repair. It can also be a price negotiation point if you are armed with information.
There are a number of possibilities, and the specific codes will be logged when that happens. They will remain for some time in the DIC even though the lights go back out. Come back here and search for each one, and you should find an answer.
I had an intermittent ABS/TCS problem C1214 code with my '02, and it turned out to be a cold solder joint inside the EBCM module. There is a DIY thread here for resolving this particular code. Other codes may require module replacement, which can get spendy.

I have a similar occurance with the lights. They come on when I first run the car, then usually in the next ignition cycle, they are off. Codes point to wheel sensors. Don't know how they first create codes and later do not...Check your codes and post back up... should lead to the problem...
