Any and all help will be greatly appreciated
HAve read it numerous times but not bein mecanically inclined a a disabled vet its hard for me to diagnose the problem, warranty is expired so hopefully someone who is car savvy and in LA can help me out thanks, gary
C5s are sensitive to ground wires being loose or corroded. Also I've
read that lots of codes and sometimes unrelated ones can just mean
it's time to replace the battery. Usually 5-7 yrs. on the original and
then goofy stuff starts to happen.
first Thank You for your service to the rest of us! If you were here in Ga i would help you. I would bet that it is a battery issue or a ground issue. can you find the negative batt cable? if so follow it to where it meets the frame. clean that ground on the frame and make sure you check the pin connector at that location.
Can you gain excess to a local mil base and have the guys in the motor pool to check this for you? also do a lot of reading in here about grounds, low voltage, and fault code clearing. GL
red89c4, thanks you for your kind words, did 23yrs with the last 4 in Med hold from injuries while in the Army. Ft Polk is about 50miles from me, use to have England AFB but was closed after Desert Storm. I took my battery to Advance Auto and it showed low so they put a full charge on it and it tested great so put it back in, and redid DTC still showing the HVAC 361 code, will check the ground on neg cable. I have read what I can find but dealing with wires and electrical diagrams is not my forte but am trying to learn. took me 3 months to finally change my AC compressor on my 98 3000GT but I did it. Thanks again for the help.
low batt will definitely do it. i ran my batt down while working on the power window and had to roll it off. DIC went crazy with codes. Charged the batt and cleared the codes, problem resolved. when i got the car in nov, i would get a random A/H disable and service ABS message. My son cleaned the neg batt to frame ground and resolved that problem. Keep us posted on the results pls.
my car had those exact same codes plus rdcm "loss of communication codes".
Problem will be solved by disassembling both doors, the harness that come through the door to the engine compartments are loose ( open door, the weatherproofing looks like a rubber slinky abouy 4 inches by 2 inches; about 6 inches down from top/front of window). The plastic "ears" on the harness need to be bent out ( GENTLY without braking) to hold the harness in place. The codes are caused by the harness shaking and becoming loose. Bending the ears is a service update on the ESI.
Loose grounds is also a probable cause.
my car threw the same codes, plus rdcm 03516, till I did the service bulletin. One time it even flashed "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" on the DIC and HUD. That was scary. While you got the door apart check the rubbers ( weatherprrofing) secure any that are loose and replace any that are worn.
since you are disabled most of this can be accomplished siiting in the seats for the doors. tools are simple, screwdrivers and upholstery pullers ( BE CAREFUL). inspection can be accomplished by someone that know what damage to rubber looks like.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!
Definite fix.
