Thanks to alot of help on here I have again been driving my 2001 Z06 for the past two weeks. All the electrical issues were solved by replacing the battery and replacing my a/c head unit, Except one..
My horn honks whenever I pop the trunk!?!? If I use the fob, turn the key 3 times to the right or push the button inside the car it does one good blast of loudashell honk goodness....
If I honk the horn the trunk is unaffected.
The system is OEM.
All the grounds have been cleaned and in some cases replaced very meticulously within the last month(was honking before I did this anyways)
Either... something odd is going on.. or it has been so long since I was using it daily that I forgot this "feature"?
If anyone can help me out with ANY suggestions please hit me up Im about to just pull the horns relay so I will try anything at this point!
Sounds like you have a short between the trunk and horn wires somewhere between the switch and the relay. Check the wires up under the dash and make sure nothing is worn down or broken.
Thanks for the reply guys! I just did as you suggested and checked all the wires I chased them back all the way into the center consoles wall. Any farther back will have to wait till another time to check but everything looked fine no splices or crimps or anything that looked odd. Its not of the utmost importance but man its annoying!
I do know it is before the relay if I take the relay out you can hear it buzz since the voltage can not pass thru. I just cant figure out where else they might cross, and wasn't sure if they are ever passing by each other anywhere else. Like the bcm or such.
Maybe u have a bad key fob it could ce shorted in the print board in your remote making it press both lock or unlock and hatch button at the same time. Try your other one if you have it.
My 98 Vert does that when all the doors are locked and I open the truck with the key FOB. Any other time the horn does NOT honk when I pop the trunk with the FOB or the remote switch on the panel left of the steering wheel.
Is your car locked when you pop the trunk?

Have you tried hitting the unlock button on the remote before you hit the trunk release?
Maybe the alarm is staying set.
Sometimes my alarm goes off when I open the door even though the door is unlocked, and I have not been able to find what triggers it. However, hitting the unlock button stops the horn.
Okay tried everything, and nothing. It does it unlocked, with the door open. Locked any way I pop the trunk. Here is what I figure.. and I know I can be wrong but just thoughts..
It is definitely a short because the trunk actually must activate. Meaning if the car is on and the ebrake is down and I push the button nothing happens due to the ebrake interrupter. If I pull the ebrake up the hatch pops and the horn honks. Any time the latch pops my fob door or button it honks.
I tried running a current both positive and negative on each of the wires running into the trunk switch to see which one to follow but nothing happened. I am not sure what this means but has to mean something...
I erased all the codes and cleared the memory by touching the positive and negative together. No change.
If I pull the horn relay you can hear the space buzzing because the current can not pass thru.
I have no idea where to go from here lol.
I am a little worried if I live with it I will eventually cause a bigger issue with the arcing and I do open my trunk alot.
Thanks for all the suggestions keep them coming!
(I just realized I haven't pulled the horns fuse. to see if it is getting the power or the ground from the latch.. I will do this tonight or tomorrow)
