Default Program TPMS Sensors before Install?????

I have new GM TPMS sensors for my '02 Coupe to go along with new tires I have on the way. I was considering marking the sensors (e.g. lf, rf, rr, lr) and then programming them before installation. Any problem doing it that way instead of after they're installed -- and then discovering a problem???

Programming them before installation is a good idea. Plus you can do it from the comfort of the drivers seat!

I thought they had to be "in place and rotating", for at least 2 miles of driving, in order to get them out of the "sleep" mode, before you can program them.

No problem. You can program a "dormant" sensor. Just make sure they go onto the correct wheel once programmed.

The magnet takes them out of sleep mode.

It's no problem ,I did it, but remember when you program the new sensors in your lap ,it deprograms your current sensors in your car,so you now get the flat tire code and reduce speed to 55 MPH untill you install your new wheels
