Kinda noisey
I dont think its anything to worry about because it always shuts up in a couple minutes.Anyway When I first start the 03 ls1 12k miles in the morning it kinda sounds like a diesel, not very loud just kinda rattles. Not a knock and Ive listened and it doesnt sound like valves pecking. Im thinking it could be exhaust. It only does this at first start of the day. Not very noticable but I can hear it. Kinda like a small ping you get with low octang or old fuel. Is this just the nature of the beast ? Like I said its only in the morning and gone in a minute or two. No codes.

You can try "de carbonizing" the engine as a first start. I use SEAFOAM and it works well. Make sure that you use the correct procedure if you injest it into the engine.

Every LS I have been around has the slap, truck motors and all!. I been listening to it for so long it sounds normal now!
