I have to disagree with that. It is not industry standard for performance aftermarket exhausts.
Sorry I meant the automotive industry in general. I will say to the OP, aluminized steel exhaust is no problem, it will rust, but it's not going to rust out on you anytime soon, especially if it's thick wall. Baffles coming loose is a design flaw that I can't comment on, since I don't know how flowmaster does it. If rust is causing them to come loose, then they just need to use heavier brackets and more welds. I will only comment on my direct experience, since I've fabricated a few exhaust systems in my time. Don't let the fact that it's not fancy stainless deter you, and if it really worries you just go paint it with some high temp header spray paint. Good luck with whatever you buy.
[QUOTE=Corvette_Ed;1580951013]As I said before, I live in Texas. Things don't rust here unless you leave them sitting in a field for a few decades.
Actually where you live doesn't matter. The rust starts from the inside and is caused by condensation. Of course, it is more of a problem in humid climates but all carbon steel mufflers will rust out from it........eventually. That is why car manufacturers moved to stainless steel. The only way for their exhausts to be warrantied for 7 or 8 years (as required by the Feds) was for them to be made out of SS.
As mentioned in an earlier post, the 10 year-old Flowmasters on what is now my daughter's 2003 Monte Carlo are still giong strong. Rust is a non-issue.

I am compelled to say again, that I really enjoyed my Flow's sounded great and performed great!
Now the coolest thing would be if Flowmaster would do a Polished S/S muffler set-up like they have for the C6's!
For the $$ spent on the Flow's and performance gain (not gonna see 30 hp as advertised) it is a good buy - and the sound cannot be beat -
Plus I never, ever had drone in my Vette from running the Flowmasters!
I think they would sound wicked with my set-up now - but wish they were in Polished S/S!
