I just got a shortened C6Z shifter from a member on here. I now need to replace the ball bushing and possibly the box bushings after conducting a bit of research. (Going in a 2001 C5 Coupe, 148K) Is there a vendor that sells all 5 bushings? Or do I just need to order the ball bushing. Any suggestions on what specific bushing I should run?
There are 2 or 4?? in the "box" and one on the ball of the shifter. The one on that ball of the shifter is the one that I am really needing. Any suggestions????
If your missing the ball bushing (black thing on the shift rod ball),, your in trouble.. GM or no one for that matter sells it by its self.... You either need an entire new shifter or one off a used shifter.
They don't sell the shifter housing bushings either. You either make some or bolt it down solid with washers. The ZO6 Box you see in the picture is mine and the ZO6 comes with solid bushings.

Not to hijack the thread, but the non availibility of what I would consider a "normal wear item", like this bushing, further makes me feel that a C-5 is quickly becoming a liability rather than a pleasure. Lately, this forum has been pointing out the number of parts that are "discontinued", important parts, like steering wheel positioners, etc, that will wind up making a C-5 an expensive piece of "yard art".....
IIRC, the cups are available from a guy here near Houston, on E-Bay. Enter "corvette shifter bushing" in Parts and Accessories.
The 4-piece polyurethane bushing kits are available from Zip Products.

Thanks for the "heads up" on the bushing. Something else I'll have to add to the "stockpile" in the basement. The red bushings....do they go under the screws that secure the "shifter box", as shown in Bill's picture?
Great info. I will need to put this to a FAVORITE POST FILE!
The guy selling them should make a LOT of cash!
Anyone the has a lot of mils on their MN6 cars, they should check the shifter mount bushings and make sure that they are not soft or torn. If they are degraded, it will adversly effect shifting.

I just ordered a new shifter box...even though I found those bushings for sale. The problem being, a lot of the worn out boxes have bad rubber seals on the rod that connects to the linkage. I could change the mounting bushings...but still have bad seals on the other part. I decided if I was going to take apart my whole center console...I only wanted to do it one time!
