make sure you get the oil hot before you drain it.

If I get 90% of the oil out I'm fine with it. Not going through any extra work for a simple oil change.

I suppose a guy could drill some holes in the baffles to let if flow forward.

That's a great pic, and explains why you had to clean out sediment. The baffles of course prevent oil starvation side to side but they also inhibit flow for other purposes.

How many miles on that pan when you cleaned it? Any pix of 'before'? If not, can you describe the amount of 'stuff' you removed?
