I'm replacing my brakes and rotors on my 2003 Z. Upon reassembly of the rear brakes, the caliper bracket seems to be too close to the rotor for my liking. If I look at the bracket when mounted, the outside rotor face has about 0.020" of clearance between the rotor face and bracket (fixed side) while the inside has about 0.125" clearance (piston side). Is that right? When I compare to the front rotors, the bracket appears to be almost centered. It seems like there are washers missing from the assembly or something. (I didn't lose any parts)
PS. I reinstalled the old rotors to check clearances and see a similar offset. It just doesn't seem right and I want to make sure everything goes back together correctly in the event someone else previously left parts off.
Nothing goes between the upright and caliper bracket. I just had mine apart. However I didn't note the spacing. Are you sure the rotor is fully seated?
I thought about the rotors not seating. I mounted up the wheels to see if torquing up the lug nuts would draw the rotor on the hub but nothing moved. The wheels spin true so I'm assuming everything is seated correctly. Both sides are the same as far as clearance.
