bare essential racing here will port your throttle body and intake for like 350 bucks(ish) then a flash tune from ECS is like 150. Do you have an 00 and older or 01 and newer, that makes a big difference too. 01+ got the LS6 intake for all cars which is really good already.

Not that. There's not much to gain by porting the LS6 intake the the throttle body porting isn't going to help much unless you have a big cam or more cubes.

The tune I would do, but that shouldn't be more than $450 on a dyno.

Heads and cam, high performance clutch. Either one will be necessary if you plan on making more power in the future.

WOW!

QUOTE" this shop wants to port intake and throttle body and dyno for 1000 bucks..what would u do "

I will try to throw some facts into the post

Most dyno tunes are around $400-$500.

Porting the TB....... I did this Tb in about 2 hrs. It was for a friend and we did it on the spur of then moment before his tune at Corvettes of Westchester.

If forum member SHANER still does TB Porting, contact him and purchase one of his. Its a work of ART and one of the best Ive seen!!

You will NOT see MASSIVE HP increases with a ported TB. You will see a little better throttle response IF the tuner does the tune correctly.

Porting a LS6 Intake Manifold: Well,, seeing that you can NOT take the manifold apart to port the stuff inside that would make the most difference, all that your going to get from them porting it is some smoothing about 3" up into each intake runner and MAYBE, some blending in the opening for the TB. You are NOT going to see $500 worth of performance increases.

The BEST things that you can do for a hearty performance increase are the following:

LONG TUBE HEADERS
VARARAM
TUNE

For a more substantial HP/TQ increase the above mods and then add:

Cam
Heads
30 lb/hr injectors
TUNE

m6 c5 I agree (a new clutch!)

My stock ZO6 clutch failed after I installed my heads and cam. It didn't like 450 RWHP

Went with the SPEC twin disk!

send the computer to east coast superchargers, 2 day turnaround ,great results! 149.00 , also put the lower thermostat in first , give them a list of your mods and you will be surprised at the difference!

I have done a few bolt on mods , headers ,ls-6 manifold , cold air intake and a few small things also. Instead of playing around with porting and gears i went for the power and installed the a & a supercharger kit . After that nothing else matters but your driving skills may need updating .. I plan on keeping the car for a while so why not have some fun . 500 hp gives you much confidence on the road , bye bye mustangs

Well if I was you and they were both good shops Id go with the street tune as its 100$ cheaper and would net just about the same results.

Street tune isn't going to net you anything. Tuning WOT needs to be done on a dyno. Seat of the pants doesn't cut it.

Don't waste your money on porting the LS6 manifold. Put it toward other mods like LT's or a cam. My car made 410rwhp with an Blackwing Intake, 228R from Texas Speed, and Kooks 1 3/4" LT's. Stock LS1 heads and LS6 intake.

Sounds to me like some people are blowing smoke to make a few bucks off you.

Bill Curlee knows what he's talking about, and always gives good advice......
