i have had three z06s never had a problem one 03,54k. one 03 48k and one 02 4k. miles. of which i have now. sombody must beat them up. nevrer a problem.
If you have a 2002 LS6, your just rolling the dice. This it's overblown? Good luck with that ......... If you put enough miles on the car, I look forward to reading your thread.
Z06: Valve springs. 2002 with a&a supercharger close to 600 hp. Takes of like a aircraft. My third zo6/ this is a 2002. Not a problem. It is the fastet car and will keep with almost the c6 cars and anything else. Do i have a rare one i don,t think. All these build numbers can,t be for real. Philly joe

These are one of those failures that occur without any warning at all. I agree that you are rolling the dice, but its your car. With the simplicity of swapping them out and the low cost for replacements, if it were my car they would be paper weights by now.
Philly is basically saying, why pay for health insurance because he hasn't really been sick for a while.
If you say so. All I know is, the issue is only "overblown" because on the forum we see a gathering of people who are saying "hey, this happened to me". Out of the number of 2002 Z06's built, I imagine the failure rate isn't that high, but on the other hand, you have the benefit of the forum to tell you what you wouldn't know anything about had you not come here. So, use that knowledge and avoid getting bit...plain and simple.
I changed mine at 54k...piece of mind...I'm good to go. Too cheap not to do it. It's like these guys trying to drive around on 87 octane in their Z06 in order to save 2.50 per fill up. Totally ridiculous. Preventative maintenance....why not? These cars are NOTHING compared to Ferrari's, Lambo's, Aston's, etc to maintain, yet provide equal performance. Just replace them and be done...or move on...whichever.
it is all about statistics, if it happened to everyone then the chances would be 100%. during the zombie apocalypse just because you didnt get bit doesnt mean there arent still zombies out there.
I am shure whoever suppled the springs to gm and were not tempered right the chance is great. But talking to the old project engineers on this car z06. They have made 200k miles with out a failure. I am sure there could be but not as many as people think// just use you peice of mine. As i said on my third this one a&a supercharged. Runs and sounds great. Quite and sounds geat and it has been punched a few times
