Default shock help Please

Hello all I have a 2000 C5 Coupe I got some 2009 C6Z06 Shocks on my car my car is lowered. The question I have is my car rides stiff it corners well but seems to be stiff and what I mean is I have very little shock travel so the ride is hard. My question is are the C6Z06 Shocks to long for my car with it lowered and thats why I have no dampening and what should I do to get a little better ride please help.

Raise the car back to within 3/4" of the original ride height.

Contact Gene Culley. I'd bet he has a suggestion for you. He is a great supporting vendor of Corvette Forum.

All shocks available for the C5 & C6 are too long for lowering much past about 3/4" to 1" below stock. The rear shocks will bottom when the tread of your rear wheels is about even with fender lip edge. When you lower so you have say 1.5" gap then you have 1.5" of travel.

Take the shocks off and cut the bump stops in 1/2 to get another bit of travel. Then, raise the car until it starts riding better.

I cut the bump stops and raised my car to get about 2" of travel. It's not bad most of the time but it does use all 2" of travel.

THERES YOUR ANSWER!

If its too stiff after that, you need to find a shock that will acomodate slammed cars!

I have had the car for just over 5 yrs the only thing done to it was it was lowered and the F45 suspension was removed and replaced with 04C5Z06 shocks and springs and sway bars and C5Z06 Chrome rims speedline. I like the way it corners but the ride is stiff.

as for the ride height the car in the front is about 1" from the front air dam and the side of the car is just under 3" on the side

I have been on this forum over 6 yrs and this topic comes up repeatedly. There no shorter shocks available.

There is 2 possible solutions:

1. LG dropped spindles - gains about 1", cost $3k
2. Coil overs - cost ~$2k, you could leave the coils off and make it a simple bolt on operation.

Yup, you have no suspension compression travel left. Raising it or coilovers are the only ways to help.

well since coilovers are a little pricey I am going to raise her up at least a 1" or more want to be able to drive down the road and not scrape everything. So out to the Garage I go to get er done

Okay just went out to work on the car and much to my surprise the rear bolts are only about 3 threads from the top of the bolt. I have a question for anyone out thier how tall is the bottom of your rear fender lip mine is at 27" in the back and 26" in the front what is stock height for these cars TIA.
