Default Oil Pressure Problem, Please Help!

Since I bought my car 16 months ago, my car would occasionally shoot me the "low oil pressure" warning when I fired up the car, however the previous owner told me it was a faulty gauge and it would fix itself in a matter of a minute. Which is true, typically after I started driving for a minute or so, the warning would go away.

However today when I started my car and the warning came up, I let the car sit for awhile and I revv'd it a little (to about 4k), and after about 4 minutes of the car being on the valves starting making a noise like the top end wasn't getting enough oil when I revv'd the car, and the low oil pressure warning was still on. So, I immediately shut the car off.

A friend of mine seems to believe I've always had this problem it just sorts itself out when I drive the car as opposed to letting it sit. Anyone ever heard of this before and what I should do? Thanks in advance.

Stupid question to add: I also have the engine making the squeaking noise problem. I've replaced several bearings and my belt and it still hasn't gone away. It typically goes away after I drive it for a few minutes, but its almost always there at start up. anyway the 2 can be connected?

Just turned the car on again, was still making a weird noise but the second I started driving it the warning went off and it started running perfect again. Any ideas?

You need to figure out whats causing you to lose oil pressure as you will cause permanent damage to your engine if you havent already.

Remove the oil filter, cut it open and inspect for particulate matter in the pleats. You should also drop the lower portion of the oil pan and inspect the pick-up tube intake screen and lower oil pan for sediment accumulation. Particulate matter, especially metal particles can lodge in the oil pump relief valve causing momentary loss of oil pressure. Another area known to cause oil pressure fluctuations is an improperly installed or damaged oil pick-up tube o-ring. This o-ring is located on the oil pump inlet connection. This is the least likely source of your problems is you have not removed the oil pump. If none of these inspections reveal anything, you oil pump may be on the verge of failing.
