Default Codes - cruise control - assistance, plz

Took a 150 mi trip this past week. About 1/3 of the way in my cruise control stopped working. During the trip, and before it stopped working, each time i hit even the slightest bump in the road, the cruise conrol would disengage until it eventually would not engage at all. Pulled codes and got codes 4 each ("h") in the door control modules, and 3 ("h") in the rfa module. 3 of the codes are not listed in the forum's 2000 corvette dtc code listing. They are U1016, U1064 and U1096. No current codes came up. Ideas? Thanx.

The 1016, 1064, and 1096 codes are probably caused by the same thing mine are probably caused by, an ignition switch going bad.

Take a look at these links taken from this thread http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...ack-again.html:

Thanx, to you and bill for the info. I found it confusing that all the codes were listed as history codes, and that even though my passenger vent blows hot when a/c is on, i got no codes from the hvac module at alL. Go figger.

FRITZM, is your car an auto or manual?

Corvette_Ed, can ignition switch going bad cause cruise control to not work?

Trans is manual. I did indicate in my first post that all codes were "h". None were "c". However, i did not check codes w/engine running since that is not what the forum directions for pulling codes stated. Nevertheless, i just went outside and did check w/engine running w/same results. Even tpm module no codes even though i get a low tire pressure right rear warning in the dtc.

To summarize:
A/c blows hot, passenger side, no codes showing
right rear tire is low, no codes showing.
Cruise control stopped working, no codes showing.

Codes:
Ldcm (4 codes), 2282h, 2284h, 1064h and 1016h.
Rdcm (4 codes), 2283h, 2285h, 1064h and 1016h.
Rfa (3 codes), 1096h, 1064h, and 1016h.

No current codes w/engine running or not running, and all other modules returned no codes whatsover.

Theres a CLUTCH SWITCH at the top of the bracket under the dash. Remove the closeout panel and examine the switch. It should be FULLY Compressed when the clutch is releaced. You can screw it IN or OUT to adjust it.

Thanx bill, i'll try that before i begin dismantling anything, like the ignition switch. I also read in the forum that i can check the a/c problem by removing, checking and possibly replacing fuse #27 in the passenger footwell fuse box or doing some dismantling to reindex or replace the main a/c actuator gear. This is one great site for resource material.

Bumble - z, can't see or feel the switch and i have not yet removed "close out" panel as bill curlee suggested, but i will start with the knee bolster, which i am going to replace w/another anyway (i am 66 so it will be touch and go with trying to get into those cramped spaces), and then go from there. This may cure the c/control problem but that still leaves those history codes and the a/c to deal with. But since it is my project car i am sure that other problems will pop up from time to time whereupon i will run to the forum.

I understand.
One step at a time for sure.
In regards to your original post in regards to the cruise control....
Here is a picture of where it lives.
Disregard the different looking adjustable clutch master cylinder arm,
( adjustable, Tick unit)
The switch is shown in the upper left corner of picture.
White in color with adjustable stub against the clutch pedal flat tab.
If the switch is pushed in as in the photo, (making contact) then that isn't the problem.
If it isn't pushed up & making contact, It screws in & out for adjustment.
The picture shown is with the c/control stub in contact, & in it's proper position, thanks & compliments to member Corvette Chris, for the picture.

I understand that it is in a hard to get to location.

Taking the drivers seat isn't much of a job, & would make getting into this area much easier.

Great pix. The driver's and passenger seats are coming out anyway for putting on the new leather covers and padding from corvette mods. Interior is all black; too much so for my taste. I am re-doing the interior in two-tone light oak/black leather. I wasn't planning on pulling the dash pad, but if that is what it takes to fix everything (a/c actuators, etc.) then so be it. Your pix will be a great help when i dive into this when all parts are received.
Thanx much,
fred.
