I hope to get some time on the dyno this month but I ran the car with a tuning wideband on today to see where its at. The existing tune is very close to dead on. Cruising afr's are great, car idles awesome and pulls plenty of vacuum. WOT afr is at 12.5, when the car kicks down, 4th to 2nd, it goes to 12.2 and immediately picks up to 12.5. No knock. Very happy so far.

A bit on the rich side to be safe but this is without tuning. This is the tune from my last setup. Thats why I said it was close. At least I can drive it normally, hard, before a full tune.

Just a little update, going to WesTech Performance this Friday to put her on the dyno. They do a lot of engine and chasis dynoing for all the big performance magazines. Also installed an AEM UEGO wideband last week. Great gauge so far.

Nice build......

I see you're using a C6 air filter housing, etc. Looks to be modified? Are you also using a C6 MAF sensor as well? Any tuning issues or changes with the C6 MAF?

Yes its an air cleaner assembly off a C6Z Im using the LS7 maf as well. The car had to be tuned for it since the parameters are different but its a way better design allowing for much more air flow. I got them for my old setup. I was close to maxing out the LS1 maf and the car would buck sometimes. The new LS3/7 mafs read much more linear and handles more air flow better and reads out smoother. As for the the filter housing, I just cut slots open so the kn filter could breathe better. It sits over a hole on the rad shroud to get cool air, coolant temps still stay low as well.

Thanks. Yes I kept my "batwing" pan and windage tray. It all fit without issues.

What was needed to use the LS7 maf? I am following this topic because im pretty sure Im going to go this route instead of head and cams. Thanks!

I just ordered the maf and connector. It uses all the same wires, you just have to pin them correctly. Took 5 minutes. After that tuning was needed. You can stil use an LS6 style maf with the LS3 tho if you keep your ecu. I went with a LS7 maf even before I did the swap because my old setup was maxing out the old maf.

not to be a pain, but if you kept a list, a spreadsheet, a whiteboard, anything of the parts you had to get to make that transplant work, you'd be my hero for 2012..

and +1 to the "sounds mean." it sounds closer to my '73 Nova than it does my C5!

Took her to the track last night. Tried a run on some wimpy dried up 255 hoosier slicks. I blew the tires off the line. Still managed a 1.7 60' and ran 7.2@98.3mph in the 1/8th. I know I can cut it to a 1.5 60' which would translate to a 7.0sec run. Only thing was I didnt have a roll bar so they didnt let me run again. Not bad for a lil cam only car. If I get a 7.0 in the 1/8th out of it, it should translate to a 10.9 1/4mi.

I dont know if anyone does da corrections for their time slip but last nights 1/8mi run translated to a corrected time of 11.0@123mph in the 1/4mi.

I am just now completing a very similar set up (only I did a complete LS3) Wish I had known about the valve reliefs in the L92. I had to cut .100" out for the cam I had.
I also have done valve job and porting on the heads as well as .005 milling to clean em up. Plus did a Fast 102 and ERl 102 TB. I think the TB is messed up as it will not stop tripping codes, so I've put on a LS3 TB.

It's at the tuners today but he's having all kinds of issues. Says the fuel pressure is dropping 10psi at about 5500. And that the car is pulling 3degrees of timing no mater where he puts the timing, so he's wondering if this is due to knock sensors being relocated. said he's had it as high as 6200 with only 16 degrees of timing and the car put down 465 on a dynojet.
I'm also running through the stock LS6 MAF
Would like to chat on the phone with the OP if possible.

I am in the "getting everything ready for the swap" phase. I called A&A to see if the bracket for my Vortech kit would work on the newer LS3 block and they said that it would be fine. He did suggest for me to find a LS2 style "silver blade" throttle body. He said that the C5 does not like the gold blade LS3 throttle bodies. Apparently they have issues at WOT and other drama.

Luckily I was able to return the gold blade one that I bought. I then found a LS2 silver blade one on here. Not sure if thats why your having the problems you are but it sounds similiar.

Good Luck.

C5Natie - WAY TO GO MAN!! I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING THIS DONE TOO. SHOULD BE SICK WITH THE BLOWER.
