suspension question....
I am experiencing a lot of rattle type noise from all 4 corners when I first drive off for the day. Later it seems all the noise goes away, as if once everything heats up it stops. I have LG coilovers and I have tried to adjust them to make it go away, but no luck so far. Shock settings were changed from 7 front, 8 rear, to 3 front and 4 rear to see what would happen....car rides like a caddy, very smooth, but over pavement cracks or pothole repairs I get the rattling noise. I'll put the shocks back to higher settings tomorrow, but what else can I check for? During my last alignment my tech found a loose tie rod, which he corrected....and the car handled a lot better. I checked all the suspension fasteners last week and none were loose, and all were to spec. All lugnuts are torqued to 100 ft/lbs. I am wondering about the shocks themselves that came with the LGs....I believe they are Belsteins. But I have never heard of them going bad on COs with just street driving, even with crappy roads. Are shocks temperature sensitive? Would replacing the rubber bushings be in order? Anywhere else in the suspension that would cause this harsh rattle over bumps?

yes, snug as a bug. I reset the COs today to 7 up front and 8 in the rear. Also put some dry lubricant where the springs mate up with the hardware. Took it for a ride and learned this: it is a low speed issue. At high speeds, above 50 mph I get no noise. Going over cracks at 25 mph I get the rattle sound. Tomorrow I will remove everything from the hatch area, glove box, etc and see what happens. May be something simple like a valve stem or the windows rattling inside the doors, who knows? ONe question....can the rotors rattle if one of the brake pads is frozen in the away position? I don't have any braking issues, but I am thinking out loud here....what else could it be?
