Default Help to identify this mod

While completing the CAGS-Skip shift I found this:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/pict...ctureid=118659

The yellow wire runs from Fuse 5 (ABSTRANS) and the Red wire from the Battery relay panel (+) both run to the aftermarket relay/fuse panel.
________________________________________ _______________
This relay block wiring is:

Orange to the 25 amp fuse and from the fuse to a splice with a blue or pale green wire in the large bundle behind the fans.

Black dual conductor to what looks like a sensor stuck into the back of the radiator.

Black single conductor to ground

Blue wire open

Green wire open

Any ideas on what this mod is? I appreciate the help. Just a few notes, I cut the cable ties and opened the bundle up that's why the wiring looks like a mess. Also, the air filter is out for cleaning. That's why the intake is out of place.

Hmmm. Never seen that before. I'm all ears. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will soon chime in.

sounds like a fan switch. To make the fans come on at a lower temp.

So do I really need to cut the fans on at a lower temp on my stock 2004or should I rely on the engineering of C5? Unless a certain engineer who helped developed the C5 tells me different, I think I will leave mine alone

I thought a tuner could change the fan enable temp on the PCM?

I don't think I would've installed it but since it came with the vert, I wanted to understand what it was and how it worked.

alrighty then...that explains it...now take it back to stock because you don't need it...
Just noticed your wonderful '99 Torch Red Vert looks just about identical to my '04...can't tell them apart other than the wheels

Maybe a previous owner raced your car? Some people put these switches on to cool down the engine between runs.

Corvettes do run hot, but they were designed that way. Putting in too low a thermostat can cause problems (excessive wear of cylinders).
