I always end up dropping the cradle a few inches. That is scary stuff trying to get the rear that high on jackstands.

Can't you just park you car on top of it with the ramps in the down position? I definitely wouldn't sell my kwiklift if I had one!

Also, just to clarify for others reading this; you will not be able to remove stock one-piece mufflers intact with 15" of clearance in the rear. Take a look at this picture of the qwiklift with a C5 on it and you'll see the tail is much higher than 15" off the ground. I think the poster referencing 15" was probably referring to the approximate raised height of the lift, not the actual clearance of the tail.

No one has mentioned lifting the rear 40" with a floor jack from the rear cradle, and not having it supported on jackstands. I also have the front on a good set of ramps. Is the Jack in the way somehow ? I forgot to put my mufflers back before I bolted my cradle today..oops .

I DEFINITELY would NOT do it with just a jack under there Use jack stands...

I did it last night, tough but got them in. My floor jack is pretty big. I also use a 2x10 to even out the weight distribution and keep it level on the cradel.

Yea no kidding! If you hate your life you could always just donate your car and just off a building. Too much work getting crushed under the car.

Please never crawl around under your car when all that is supporting it is a floor jack. If you lose a seal on the jack while you're under there it's GAME OVER. I have a feeling a lot of people do this without knowing any better but it really isn't safe.

Always use jack stands, lift and support by factory specified locations, and check your setup two or three times before getting under the car or sticking your head in the wheel well. Your life is worth the extra few minutes...

Whoa, please don't ever do this! You need to get completely under the car to get those bolts back on ....... it just isn't worth the risk

Always use jack stands and if they are not tall enough, as in this situation, find a friend with a ramp

Makes sense about the jack Failing. I did NOT get under my car at any time. I only slipped the muffler in place from the back of the car. No bolts or other exaust. Jacks were in place just didnt reach as high.

I removed my stock mufflers without cutting, or even raising the car at all.

A friend's garage with a floor pit made the job easy.
