Default MAF size

Is there a differance in sizes of the MAF's from 99 to the later c5's? Do I need to get a later model MAF when installing a vararam intake? the intake I have says use some bushing for a 97-2000 but its not needed for the 2001-2004 models. I guess i just answered my own question but would like some verification. Thanks

1997-2000 the MAF and IAT were separate units and each had their own wire plugin. In 2001 the MAF could also read the IAT and went to a 5-pin connector because of it. Also the MAF size from 1997-2000 was only 74MM, and the 2001+ are 85MM.

You can get an adaptor harness and use the newer MAF. You will also need to have the new MAF tuned for proper performance!

Default Iat

I now have the 85 mm MAF so i use the 3to 5 pin cable and just disrgard the wire for the old IAT sensor? Or does the adaptor cable have a plug for the old IAT sensor. Thanks

When I bought my car, it had a descreened 85mm MAF and Vararam intake installed.

I took it to the drags, it ran 14.37 @ 97 mph.........
Got a P0101 CEL.

So I looked at the tune....was never updated for the bigger MAF. I didn't have HPT at the time, a buddy scanned the PCM with his.

I bought a used stock MAF, went back to the drags and ran 13.05 @ 107.......

Just to reiterate Bill's comment about needing the bigger MAF tuned.

10-4, I undrstand it will need a tune. So now i guess i put the original MAF back on, until the tune no problem. Where does the IAT sensor go since I'm installing the Vararam intake. I'm waiting on the headers to arrive, The Fast 90 and TB are here to be installed also. I guess it will be better to tune with all of the new parts installed. Thanks

I'm using the power duct for the 97-00 cars. It has a provision for the IAT sensor.

Since then, I have swapped to the 85mm MAF and the 90mm TB. The power duct still hooked up fine.

When you get to that point, shoot me a PM and I'll get you some detailed photos.
