Baseline RWHP
I just purchased a 2001 Z06, and the only mod that I have found that the previous owner did was add a Vortex Ram Air CAI. I am in the process of deciding on LT headers, cross pipe and exhaust system, among other things.
Once I do that, I plan on getting a dyno test/tune done before I proceed to replacing intake/heads/etc.
My question is, since I can't measure from bone stock, is there an accepted baseline rwhp number that the 2001 Z06's made so that I can tell how much I've added at any point? I know it won't ever be completely exact, but close is good enough for me. I'm starting from complete scratch, as this will be the first car I've ever done any work to myself.
351 HP/341 TQ - only "mod" is a K&N.
In my limited time reading on this subject, it seems that a good rule of thumb on drivetrain loss thru a manual transmission is 16-18%.
For a stock 2001 Z06, rated at 385, that comes out to around 14% if average is about 330. Is the drivetrain showing less power loss, or did GM understate the stock HP rating?
Also, what is an average RWTQ number for stock?
These probably seem like really stupid questions, but I have learned a TON of stuff on this forum in the last week since I bought mine, so I figured I'd just throw one out there.
