Default A little help

Yesterday my car started idling a little rough and I heard a vacuum leak. This morning I found the culprit and want to fix it, but what do I tell the guy at the parts counter that this is? (All my previous expierience is on old 60's and 70's V8's so don't laugh)

Thanks in advance.

LOL Nevermind. Ok so it's the PCV Valve and a boot. Looked to me like the hold down wire was a ground......LOL So that little rubber boot was ridiculously expensive, so being the thrifty dude that I am I just used a piece of rubber fuel line off the roll that I just purchased to redo the lines on my 79 T/A.

That is the PCV hose from the PCV valve to the intake. It is not a special line. You can pull it off the intake and valve and cut an equal length and diameter rubber tube to go back in.

Looks like a tight area. It helps when removing a bad hose to carefully cut it with a razor blade/box cutter knife to reduce the stress on connections when removing. A little oil or something similar (slippery) on the replacement hose ID and connectore OD will make installation easy(er).

EXCELLENT pictures!! Good find and YES,, I too save money where I can.

Do you mind if I save and use that picture so I can point someone else in the future to that very same vacuum leak?

OH,, By the way,, this is a very common issue.

That wire was actually intended to be a heat sink, for the PCV valve and it's rubber boot.
