While starting my 01 c5z the clock will reset itself to 1:00.Battery is new [ It has 12.7 volts] and car charges at 13.8 most the time.I have cleaned grounds, battery connections, starter connections and cleaned and sanded the ign switch.Out of every 10 starts the car my reset clock twice, then next day it may do it 8 out of 10 times.I'm afraid this may cause oyher probloms like my alky control not to work or something.Any ideals
I thought the clock resets to 12:00 (when voltage is lost) ?
If you have your DIC set to read anything other than "mileage/odometer" does it reset to the odometer? If so, than your voltage during starting is falling too low.
Get a load check on your new battery. Your voltage indicates it is 86.7% charged, but a load test is the TRUE TEST of a battery's condition. Most places that sell batteries will do a load test for free.
New batteries can sometimes be bad.

On a C5, the clock resets to 1:00.
It's got to be losing voltage during crank. I know you said new, but I'd load test the battery first. Then double check the battery connections, including negative connection. Then I might start looking at the ignition switch contacts. Maybe Bill C. or one of those guys could let you know whether that symptom can come from an ignition contact problem. I know that when the battery voltage drops below a certain amount during crank, the clock can reset and the HUD display will default to oil pressure no matter what you had it set on.
I have a similar symptom I noticed the other day. I started the car and the clock flashed 1:00 then 2:00 and then displayed the correct time. Would a battery cause this too? I too have a brand new Red Top.

This was happening to me and the radio and AC lights would flicker. My voltage on the DIC would fluctuate from 11.1 to 14 while driving. Mine ended up being the alternator. It was not able to keep up the proper charge
