Default Throttle Body (TB) Removal request

In all of the how to’s I have read on this forum, I cannot find anything specific to TB removal. They all seem to say (Toque’s Procedures also) to remove the TB, and go on to the next step. I’m thinking it must be just 3 bolts and yank, but so many times bitten, I am cautious to go forward.
Could someone please list the steps for TB removal, to include anything to be careful of during the process? TIA.

No offense intended here. If you do not have the ability to evaluate the throttle body, understand the connections, i.e. coolant, intake air, electrical, and see what needs to be done for removal......then I recommend you hook up with a local forum member for help.

I appreciate the advice – no offense taken.
I am kind of an analog man thrust into a digital world. I have pulled and rebuilt motors from 2 x 1970 GTO’s, 1 x 67 vette (327) and 1 x 69 camaro (also 327). These were all done in the 1975 – 1986 timeframe. Progression in motors and accessories complexity has quite passed me by, so that my return to nursing a 2001 Corvette to the best I can make it, is going forward in baby steps.
I would still appreciate any step-by-step that anyone could provide. If it proves to be too much for me to grasp,I will get local help.

Then in my opinion, you have all the expertise needed for this task. Much easier than removing a carb. Remove the air intake accordion. Two electrical connections. Drivers side for the TB motor, passenger side for the throttle position sensor. 3 total screws, one on top, two on the bottom. If not previously disconnected, two coolant lines connect at the bottom of the TB. No gasket to worry about, as it is part of the intake manifold. One fresh air connection on the top (passenger)side of the TB.

Some UNIQUE things to note about the C5 TB. You DO NOT have an Idle Air Control Valve. The PCM commands the throttle blade open to the last know angle for proper idle. The throttle blade will NOT snap fully shut when the engine is OFF. It will fall partly shut but you should be able to push it to the fully shut position easily. When released it will flop partially open again.

Clean the throttle blade and Throttle body bore with brake parts cleaner.

DO NOT get the Throttle Position Sensor WET or soak it with cleaner. If you do you will be purchasing a NEW ONE $$$$$$

Clean the MAF with MAF cleaner while you have the air bridge apart. DO NOT touch the MAF wires! Spray clean and let it evaporate.

USE the proper torque to reinstall the TB on to the manifold. DO NOT over tighten.

You can bypass the coolant that runs thru the TB for ease of removal reinstall BUT,, it really doesn’t contribute to any more HP.

Just some things that you should know.

BC

GM prints right on the intake manifold for you, now if you can mess up the wires on an LS motor.........

Steve,
Kinda like on Claymores: "THIS SIDE TOWARD ENEMY"

Two types I always buy a round for, no matter what: crew chiefs and egress folks.
