Default C5 Headlight Trouble?

Well today as i was leaving the office it was pretty dusk out so i turned on the headlights as usual. Both headlights came up as normal but i noticed that the driver side light did not turn on. I turned the switch to the off position but the headlights stayed up!

i turned them back on to the ON position and again on the passenger side came on and no response from them coming back down as i turned them back to off. So i went ahead and proceeded home and tried again on the way home to turn on the lights. This time both lights lit up and the headlights were once again responding to the off and on (coming up and down).

My question is "whenever there is a bulb out on the headlights do they lights remain in the open position to indicate a bulb that is out?" or is this an early sign of headlight issues in the future? I have HID kit if it matters any. Thanks

First, with your HID kit did you install a relay harness to power the HID's directly from the battery, or did you use the OEM wiring?

Second, did you install a resistor inline before the ballast on one side, passenger or drivers side?

I used the OEM wiring to hook up the HID'S. And no i didn't install any resistor anywhere during the install. Weird how i have been having them lights on for about 2 months now with no issues until now.

Not unusual. The same thing happened to me. I installed the ACA lights with HID's and ran the OEM connections. After a few weeks the passenger side headlight would not light. Checked the ballast and bulb and they were good. Changed to the relay from the battery and problem solved. The resistor will ensure that the buckets open and close without an issue. JW Motorsports a forum vendor sells one that is plug and play and works. I would suggest you do both. Good luck.
