Default Replace the Gas Cap O-Ring?

Anyone know what size that o-ring is? The C-6 guys have been able to get o-rings from NAPA. Seems like that would be cheaper than buying a $25 cap from GM.

My car sat for 2 years and I was about to run out of time for the Plate renewal and emissions test.

I got her back on the road and WHAM,, I got the DTC for a minor emissions vacuum leak! ..

SO,, to get thru emissions, I applied some BLACK RTV to the dry rotted and cracked O ring, put some celephane in the filler pipe seating surface,, screwed on the cap and let her sit over night. Removed the cap, removed the celephane. Reinstalled the CAP and

The next morning I put some miles on the car and the code was gone. Two days later I passed emissions.

If you can find a correct O ring, please pass on the SPECS!

Mine is working fine for the time being so I have not investigated it any further.

Will do Bill!

I thought about the RTV fix too. That seems to be the simplest fix.

Any suggestions on how to measure that thing? I found a website where I could order a bag of Buna-N nitrile o-rings for about $6. im sure a caliper could get in the fuel filler neck but not sure how to get the inner diameter for the ring.

There is 50 per bag so I could always send them out to you guys if you needed one.

They have a bunch of different types but they recommend these for gasoline.

Man,, You are a MIND READER.

That is EXACTLY why they are there. My cousin is well known in Hartwell GA and every year he has a 4th of July party, fire works and pork roast on the Lake that IS TO DIE FOR.
There were more cops there than I could count.

They were making eyes on the Yankee with the FAST CAR!!!

They were some great people and fun to be around.
