Default another broken knock sensor

hi everyone, new to this site but i picked up my first corvette c5 coupe 02 last weak and was getting bad knock sensors. went to replace them and got the nortorious torqued to tight and now beoken off heads. I have foundquite a few threads on how to remove them but none have worked yet so i figured i would ask the pros. is their any way to remove what they tread into because you can tell that some one tryed to take a pair of vise grips on the hole thing instad of just the top portion. any advise would be great i figure at the worse ill have to pull the motor and have to machine pressed the car has 170000 lus miles so its might be a good time anyways.

Please take a picture of what your trying to do.. Ive NEVER had to deal with a broken knock sensor.

Cant imagine that it should be that difficult to get out.

Take the valley cover off and it will make life a lot simpler.

You have to subscribe to hosting service, something like PHOTOBUCKET and up load your pictures to it.

Once you have your photos saved there, you pick the "IMG Code" for that picture and copy it and paste that into post.

" IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v402/bill327/DSCF0017-3.jpg[/IMG "

This is what the copied IMG Code looks like. I altered it so that it wouldn't work (removed the pretenses) to allow you to see what it looks like.

Back to your knock sensors.
Drill a hole in the center of the part thats stuck in the boss. It will have to be a pretty good size hole.

Then hammer in a good size EASY OUT and unscrew the remaining sensor stud.

The part that you can see is part of the BLOCK and it has a smooth outer surface that seals to the valley cover with a wiper seal. Make sure that you smooth that surface out so you don't tear up the seal and leak oil into the sensor cavity and ruin the knock sensor.

Use some wet and dry sand paper and remove the high/rough spots. Once it is smooth, if you have any divots, use some JB Weld to fill it in. Smooth the epoxy out after it cures.

Bill

NOTE,,,, Make SURE you cover the openings in the block so you dont get any debri in the engine.

leave the motor in the car; pull the heads and replace the lifters

$120 for new GM units, as yours could fail at any time

look at the cam with the valley cover off and inspect the fore and aft cam lobes, you'll see a few through the 2 block openings
