sae correction will show about 3% less than std

should be around 307rwhp sae

I e-mailed the owner of the Dyno shop as follows:

"I had my car dyno-tested yesterday with a whole bunch of other C5 Corvettes and posted the results in the Corvette Forum. Someone commented that the RWHP peak shown in the data is STD and that SAE horsepower is actually 3% less, so instead of 316, my car actually produces 307. Can you tell me which method is more representative of my actual RWHP?

Also, do you know why the peak HP listed at the top of the chart is a bit higher than the peak HP shown in the data listing? (315.9 vs 314.9)"

He answered:

"Yes, there are differences between the types of HP readouts. But they are just different ways of expressing the same result. If in the other parts of the world, they may have printed DIN instead...but there again it is just another way of saying the same thing

As for your data listing not being the same as peak HP shown, that's just because of the capture that was printed. It can capture and print lots of ranges, such as "every 10 MPH" or maybe "every 100 RPM" and sometimes the data capture is different than what actually shows on the chart."

So, based on his response, I can't really concede that 3% drop. If you read the website's description and tolerances of the dyno ( I supplied the link in a previous response.), I'd say that it should be as accurate as any other.

Right on par with my friends 01 MN6 he had 307 bone stock down to the filter with about 15k on it.

Dave, he is right, there are different ways on computing the same dyno run. That's why there are SAE corrections and STD corrections.

The owner is obviously using a Dynojet; I have a simple solution...go back to that dyno, retrieve your file (they keep them on the hard drive for usually a couple of weeks or so) and have them crunch the data using the SAE correction factor.

Most all tuners will use a Dynojet and give the customer an SAE corrected run (there is also STD which we already discussed and ACTUAL which is using no correction factor at all).

Here is the quote from Dynojets own website:

The older PEP software (v4.x) corrects only to SAE J1349. The newest WinPEP (v6.03) corrects to not only J1349, but to other standards, including "standard corrected," popular with aftermarket manufacturers (no doubt because it uses 29.92 in/hg and 68°F' to get bigger numbers), "EEC," used in Asia and parts of Europe, and "DIN," used in Germany.

I'm not trying to diminish your runs; they were nice dynos for what you have. I just want to make it clear that SAE will show less than STD and will make comparisons with other folks useless unless we're comparing apples to apples.
