DOT 4 Fluids
I recently purchased a 2000 corvette. The car is pristine condition with 33000 miles. At some point, the brake master cylinder and clutch fluid were changed, refilled, and marked as DOT 4. What would be the reason or benefit be for this?

DOT4 has higher wet and dry boiling points than DOT 3 fluids do. Aside fom it being slightly more expensive - there really aren't any drawbacks to using DOT 4 fluid. If you ever take the car to a road race track, there are significant advantages to higher boiling point fluids. For pure street use - it's kind of hard to imagine getting the brake fluid to the point where it could boil.
