Greeting fellow vette owners. I have an issue with my traction control unit. When i drive around for an hour the traction control service now goes away and everything is normal. When i trun of the car and get back in 30 mins later i get service now traction conrtol. What does that mean? Is it an expensive service, what should I except?
Thank you

You have to have the trouble codes to diagnosis traction control problems. Could be simple and inexpensive...maybe not. Here's a link that explains how to pull the codes. Post the codes and the year of your car.
Traction control codes or warnings are often a result of a dirty/fouled or disconnected wheel speed sensor--There is one located at each wheel with a pin connector --The connectors get dirty in wet weather---
The traction control system is used to prevent wheel spin during a hard launch as well as the ABS brake system to prevent wheel skidding on a hard stop--

ABS, TC and AH are all functions of the ABS or as referenced in the GM diagnostic list shown on the DIC, the TCS. A bad wheel speed sensor can sometimes affect just one of the functions but it is unlikely with the sealed sensors on the C5. The wheel speed sensor is part of all the functions: ABS, TC and AH and usually a bad sensor will cause all three Service Messages not one. Using the DIC to investigate the ABS codes is the best way to start as the codes will tell you where to look.
The reason the message returns upon engine start is the EBCM resets with each engine start so what ever condition is setting it off is present when you first start operating the car and then resolves itself after you drive for a while. Is the CEL lit when you first start the car and then disappear after you have driven a while? Engine misfire or throttle issues that cause CELs will cause the TC system to shut down while leaving ABS and AH operational. The steering sensor can affect TC but usually affects active handling before it affects TC. There are a bunch of different places to look to resolve the issue and that is why the codes are necessary as they keep you from searching for a needle in a haystack.
