Default Kooks headers removal help

I am trying to remove my kooks 1 7/8 headers and its a tight fit. I searched the forum and it looks like you need to ubolt one motor mount completely, and loosen another and then jack the motor up to tilt it. A few questions before I give this a shot..

Where are you placing the jack? I'm a little scared to jack on the oil pan, but if it hasn't cause any problems for other, I'll do it.

How high are you jacking it up? I have a lot of wiring running behind the intake manifold and don't want to pinch them. I'll take the manifold off and move the wiring if its more than an inch or two.

Thanks in advance

You don't need to raise the motor. Take the valve covers off and the oil filter. Pull them through the top easy cheesy

take the intake manifold off, makes life lot easier, installing intake is piece of cake. Taped cyl heads ports. use wooden blocks on the edge of oil pan and jack tilt as you need clearance.

cool thanks! I wonder if my pfadt trans mount will keep it from twisting....the passenger side barely made it. I'll give it a shot.

Yes the Pfadt trans mount will keep the assembly from twisting. I would loosen but not remove the nuts between the trans mount and the cradle.

I removed the alternator, made my life much easier.

Finally got the driver side! Out the bottom was far easier than out the top for me. I just dropped the cradle with the engine supported at the bellhousing, and then swung it out of the way, the header fell to the ground. I'll be going back in that way for sure
