Default Sport Seats

Does anyone know if Sport Seat cusions and covers will fit the standard seat frames? If the Sport cover and cusion will only fit the Sport back frame then I am wndering if the back frame of the Sport Seat will fit the bottom frame of the standard seat. Just looking into some options and was hoping it might be possible to recover a standard seat frame with a sport seat cover and cusions. Seems like all the local wrecking yards that have Sport Seats for sale around here (Houston) want waaaay too much for em and all the Corvette owners who have em for sale at a reasonable price live 1000 miles away.

My understanding is the seat frames are the same and you'll need new Sport seat foam and Sport seat covers to do the conversion.
I plan on doing this with my tax return refund this year.

Anbody else heard the same? Are there any write-ups where other members have done this conversion? I searched around a bit for seat modifications but there was not a whole lot other than the advice to switch to Sport Seats.

I thought that I read the same thing. The base seats could be converted to the sport seats by using the sport seat cushions and covers.

I also tried a search, but I couldn't find it either, but I am sure I read it on a forum thread.

I am thinking about doing it to mine when I need to redo the seats.

Maybe someone else can point to the thread or confirm it.

Well, I have not found any type of write-up or evidence of anyone recovering their standard seats with Sport covers and cusions. However... I have found pictures of standard seats with upholstry removed and pictures of sport seats with upholstry removed and (short of pulling dimensionals) the frames appear to be identical in every way. I feel convinced enough to order the sport covers and cusions and recover my standard seats. If it all works out like I think it will then I'll post up a pictorial write-up.

Try checking this thread. A couple of posts say they have done it and it works. See post #8 and #15

Good luck

Those two posts pretty much cinch the deal. I'm convinced and my new sport seat covers and cushions are on order. Many thanks for your help.
