Smog pump check valve (the one way in the back of the intake), diff gaskets, column lock (if not fixed with the bypass), and of course, the infamous EBCM.
Headlight gear...coolant overflow tank cracking....output shaft seals leaking.
On a vert, the rear window popping out and the defroster tabs snapping off.

depends on the application... pac 1218 and comp 918 are good replacement beehives if you're still running a stock or mild lift cam... I went with the pac 1518 myself which are basically a nitrided version of the 1218 and bumps the lift rating from .600 to .650... my cams lift is only .573/.578 but I plan on boosting it so I wanted the extra security
As far as preventing the failure is concerned; there have been numerous posts on the need to "exercise" it. I did this once by securely lifting the rear wheels and slowly accelerating until the TC/ABS engages. Do this a few times and you're done.
Another way is to drive your car like you stole it............
Wow, driving like you stole like corrects it. What exacting does it do to correct it? What is the result of this being a complete failure?
Driving aggresively engages the Traction Control/ ABS and thus exercises the EBCM. Of course, you don't do this all the time but once in a while is good.
You can do the same operation with less risk by aggressively braking when the pavement is wet.. When you cause a tire/s to lock up, the EBTCM and the BPMV modulate the braking on each tire to help the driver maintain control of the car.
The electric motor in the BPMV runs to add brake pressure if needed to other wheels to help main the driver desired steering direction (Active Handling system only)
If you turn a corner quickly enough to cause the rear to kick out a little, the AH System will activate and exercise the pump and BPMV poppet valves.
NOTE,,, Its up to YOU do do all this stuff SAFELY and legally!!

I found this out by accident - To exercise that little motor go into codes on the DIC. Scroll to where EBCM trouble codes would be even though you are not showing a code press reset anyway. You'll hear it run! It works on my 99. Don't know if it works on all C5's.
