Changing tranny and diff over to Amsoil. Wondering if its just a dumb idea to clean out the "guts" with brake cleaner before pouring in the new fluid? Would it eat up anything like the clutches or what not? Am I just being ****? 6 speed btw. Thanks guys

I would not put ANY solvent in the diff or trans. I wouldn't chance even a small amount of it remaining and possibly diluting the fresh stuff.
If it really concerns you, you can always drain/refill again after a few miles driving. Of course that starts to get a little pricey.
I could be wrong, but I think when shops clean out diffs/trans/blocks/heads etc. they just use steam in their parts washers.
If you have a steam cleaner handy, I think you could clean it out with that and rinse it with water and then wait for the water to completely dry. No solvents and the heat from the steam will clean better than you would think.

Where would you recommend he put the nozzle, in the fill-hole or the drain-hole?
When you have engines, transmissions or differentials in a shop, and they are disassembled, that's one thing but,.........
I would NOT clean the trany or diff out with brake cleaner or any other solvent or steam. The chance of residual "cleaner" remaining is far greater than any problem from old fluid remaining. If you want to be **** about it, do the drain when the car is up to operating temperature. Fluids flow and drain out better when warm. Leave the drain plug out till nothing else is dripping - a couple of hours. Then refill with new fluid and have fun driving !
Do not put foreign fluids or objects into your trans or diff or engine. That's typically how a sob story post about an experiment that has gone wrong starts here. Drive it till it's warm and change it and then keep driving it.

I would just give them a good drain, refill and not lose any sleep over it.
I just simply drained and filled the transmission but decided to do new seals on the rearend and while doing that decided to do C6 Z06 internals so now that rear end is in a million pieces and has been cleaned completely. lol.. funny how one job turns into another and so on and so on.. lol
