Before you get too far off the track of the problem,, I agree,, the next time that you expierence the second gear issue,, see if the 1st to 4th shift CAGS is ON. If so,, it just a CAGS issue and perfectly normal. When you shift under LIGHT throttle, CAGS kicks in to save fuel.
When "hklvette" stated "There are ways to get rid of that "feature," including changing driving style" if you mash the throttle a little mor aggressively, the PCM will cancil the CAGS command!


I seldom had the CAGS intervention cause I drove it like I stole it.
Recommendation. if you DEATH GRIP the shift handle when you shift, its easy to shift from THIRD GEAR back to second.
If you ACCIDENTLY shift back into SECOND GEAR at Wide Open Throttle when your at 6000 RPM in third gear, the engine will mechanically spin up to some where close to 11000 RPM!

That will NOT be a good event. I ditched the stock shifter for a KIRBAN Shifter.
