Why are you measuring the voltage? Are you having an issue with the battery or charging?

The normal nominal reading is right around 14.2 BUT,,,,,,, anywhere between 13.5 and 14.7 is good.
There is a voltage sense /feedback wire on the solenoid. In fact, ther are several ALTERNATOR wires on the solenoid. The alternator BATT Wire and the battery POSITIVE wire joine there.

If any of those wires are loose, dirty corroded or damaged, the alternator voltage will be inconsistent/ low or not charget the battery at all.

Check the connections on the solenoid and make sure that they are all clean and tight.

Compare the actual battery terminal voltage to the voltage reading on the IPC Meter and digital reading. They should all there be the same or very close.

thanks for all the replies, I was under the hood cleaning, detailing, checking fluids , and just playing with stuff. It was such a nice day out. I decided to check the battery with & without the car running to see the charging rate. I'm am kind of a newbe on all the componets of the LS1 & corvette so i'm always messing with something. I had a choice of things to do over the weekend, work on my car or mow the lawns you know the answer to that one

Thanks again

I measured it at 14.75 V when I ended up having to replace the battery which wasn't holding a charge.

Great, in that case I agree that your voltage is where it should be.
