Default Tire pressure issue

'99 FRC 29xxx miles.

I don't drive the car much (maybe twice a month) the TPMS always
tells me the LR tire is low. I then put 40 lbs in and tested with two
different tire gauges.....took the car out Sat. AM, LR tire pressure low!!

I have almost new NRF Nittos 555's.........

Am I over looking something ????????

Thanks, Jan

I'm sorry but your not making it clear to me... I think you are saying that you put air ( 40 psi ) in your left rear tire and then after a few hours /days it says tire is low. OR, are you saying you put 40 psi in the tire and it says low tire warning LR immediately.
A low tire warning is below 25 psi.
What I think you are saying is your tire is going flat, every few days.
it could be a rim issue ( bent or dirty at the seal ), or a leak in the tire or at the valve stem.
If you put 40 psi in the tire and then take it out for a ride immediately and it says low tire LR then you have a bad sensor.

Did you check every tire? The sensors may be programmed incorrectly and one of the other tires is really low.

Sorry, can't tell if you are saying the TPMS is always wrong or the tire is always going flat.

I replaced my tires @ NTB ALton Il, and noticed a low pressure on the right front thru the DIC.
Short story, The Idiots put the left wheel on the right side of the car had the right wheel on the left side.
The DIC pressure now reads and reports low or high pressure on the wrong side of the car.
Low left reading now means low right tire.
Mabe the same happened to you

OMG.... some people should not own a Corvette....
If you check all four tires with an analog gage and they all say 40 psi.. it doesn't matter . none should show low tire pressure... if you are getting as low tire pressure warning, use an analog gage to determine which tire it is.. Low tire warning is 25 psi or less. if you put 40 psi in each tire, and in a few days one says 24 psi by the hand held gage that is your problem. no matter what the sensors says. Its very simple.

But the first thing you do is relearn the tire sensors first to make sure they are reading the correct position. There are no maybe's about it.
relearn the sensors first.

did you check that tire with a hand held Gage . geeeeeeeeeeeze.. is it really 24 psi ( point where you get a low tire warning )after a cup of coffee??????????
if that's the case you have a bent rim, or a seal problem, a leaking pressure sensor at the nut, or a defective tire.

OR IS IT STILL 40 psi with the hand held gage, check all four tires Nothing is clear at this point.
You either have a bad tire or a bad rim or a bad sensor.. with the information you give it could be any of the three.

REPROGRAM THE SENSORS!

When you see the LOW PRESSURE reading,, Get out and go check each tire with a mechanical tire gage. If its low shortly after you properly air up the tire, repair the tire, stem and or rim.

If they are all still in proper spec and the sensor reports low, get new sensor installed in the bad reading rim.

When you get all this sorted out, the correct pressures are 28-32 lbs in each tire (COLD). I run 28 in the rears and 31 in the fronts (COLD) and get excellent wear and performance.
