Each valve rocker rest on a stand that supports the rocker. The strip of aluminum that supports each rocker can and does wear. The area where the rocker rest gets sloppy from wear.
The part is fairly inexpensive and easy to get from the dealer or GM Parts House

I did the trunnion replacement for a friend about 9 months ago. It was NOT difficult at all and it can be done using a bench vice and some sockets as press out and press in tools.
