Default Vibrating at 70-80 MPH

I've searched and looked for threads on the C5 vibrating at 70-80 mph without much luck. Then I realized that my 05 Frontier did that same thing at the same speeds, took it to Nissan, come to find out it was the drive shaft u-joints. Could I be experiencing the same problem with my C5? New tires on the front and good tires on the back with same tread pattern.
Thanks in advance.

Default Vibrating at speed

I think i found the problem. The half-shafts have ujoints on them, if rusted or damaged they could cause vibration at higher speeds

check wheel balance, weights get launched sometimes. how many miles? could be drive shaft couplers. mine were completely toast.

Check the wheels as well to make sure they didn't get damaged somehow. I had the same problem and the cause turned out to be a wheel that wasn't completely round on the inside lip.

I felt the same thing in mine driving it home from purchase. I literally had to wait for the car to get back from the tire shop having new tires installed before I could leave the seller and go home. Vibrated pretty badly around 70 mph. on the way home. Ran it to the tire store that I trust locally and had them re-balance these new tires. All were "off" and 2 were WAY off. Vibration free since then. It would be the first thing I would check.

Thanks, I'll get it checked out somewhere local. I drove the other day and got it up to 90 mph and it got worse on the driver side and of course the steering wheel was shaking also. Carfax didn't show any accidents so, hopefully it's nothing major.
Thanks everyone!!!

I had this problem not long ago. Started getting high speed vibration all of a sudden and it got worse in a short period of time.
Checked for missing weights, all front end components, alignment, couldn't figure it out.
Finally on suggestion of my nephew took a CLOSE look at tires ( they were wearing fine ). Turned out the belts were separating inside left front tire. They were Kumhos . Just a freak manufacturing defect I guess.
Just one more thing you might check if you haven't already.

I've had tire shops completely forget to even put the weights on and they put the wheel back on the car like that. I always dread trips to the tire shop.

A) They automatically assume you are a retard, and don't listen to anything you say.

B) They always use an impact gun to remove the lugs and end up chipping the hell out of your wheels around the lugs

C) They typically just zip the lug nuts back on to like 450 ft-lbs with an impact gun, so you can never get them off, and chip the lug holes in the wheels even more.

D) Any time you get a tire mounted, you are almost guaranteed that they end up gouging one of the wheels with the tire mounting machine.

E) They all think it's ok to lift a corvette by the rockers. Yeah lifiting a 3200lb car by painted body panels is ok?

After I've had so many bad experiences, I always just take them the wheels and tires, and don't let them touch my car. At least that takes away half the risk. I also fully inspect the wheels for damage and make sure they balanced them before I leave the store.

I took my car to the tire shop today. Just as most of you said unbalanced tires. I cant believe the lack of competence of dealerships after completing the sale. A Hyundae dealership in Austin, Tx. They put new tires on the front and did not balance them. Anyway the car runs GOOD, crusing at 80 felt so good. It was awsome. Thank you guys for your support.
