so on my 2000 corvette my front seal is leaking and since i have 96k miles on the car people are saying to replace the crank pulley as well. some people are recommending the stock one from GM and a corvette shop in town recommended using the powerbond pulley with national seal. what would you all suggest
I went with a powerbond in stock size, cost less than $100 and it's constructed much better than the OEM junk pulley I removed. For what it's worth, the factory seal I removed and the new seal I got from GM were both national seals. I also pinned the crank and used an ARP bolt. You really can't go wrong with any of the big name manufacturers for the crank pulley though.
so there are 4 different balancers listed for my 2000 corvette and hopefully the one i need is the 100 dollar one. but what is the one i need. my car makes 446 at the wheels

PB1117N is stock size 6 rib.
PB81117SC is stock size 8 rib for supercharged cars
PB81117SC10 is 10% under drive 8 rib for supercharged cars.
The other pulley is a Dorman brand.
There is also PBU1117SS10 and PBU1117SS25 which are 6 rib 10% and 25% under drive.
If you're looking for a simple stock replacement go with the PB1117N
sweet thank you. i will be picking them up tomorrow. do you by chance know what part number the ARP bolt is?
also is there anything else i should get?
so far i am going to buy:
powerbond balancer
front seal
timing cover gasket
ac and power steering belts
want to buy ARP bolt
oil change
ARP bolt PN is 234-2503
Pick up a couple water pump gaskets while you're at it, they're cheap enough and your old ones might not be reusable once you pull them (mine fell apart).
You'll also need power steering fluid and engine coolant.
I would also pin the crank/pulley while you're in there as a little extra insurance.
I put a 25% Powerbond underdrive pulley on my car because my front seal was leaking too. I used a national seal. I've been on several road trips and daily drive the car and haven't had a single issue with anything. One thing I would do just because you're right there is put a new oil pump and timing chain in just because you probably won't be there for a very long time, wish I would have but I didn't think about ordering them and my car had a dyno appointment the next day. The best price on the Powerbond I've found is through Scoggin Dickey, he also includes the belts and your bolt of choice for I believe $245 if you choose the ARP bolt. The install isn't too bad. I did it in one night. Just take your time and be very careful with what you're doing. And DO NOT use the old bolt to put the new pulley on. Good luck!
