Re: Need to know these codes!! HELP!!!! (vetterdstr)
What is happening is that the dic is showing the temp at 192, then it switches to 210 then back to 185. The temp gauge drops and the engine starts to die. Then the Engine surges back to 2,000 rpms and levels off to an Idle... the temp is constantly changing and is not steady...
And to top it all off I am leaving for SF to meet up with the S&S Event...
Re: Need to know these codes!! HELP!!!! (vetterdstr)
Dont worry about the 10xx codes you have. Those are common and are just communciations warnings. For example when communcations is taking place between a low priority computer, and a higher priority signal bumps it for priority.
Heres your other one:
DTC C1241
Circuit Description
The Speed dependent Steering System (MAGNASTEER®) incorporates its controller into the EBCM. The EBCM controls the amount of current supplied to the MAGNASTEER® actuator based on input from the wheel speed sensors.
MAGNASTEER® 2 also uses inputs from the wheel speed sensors along with added input from the Steering Wheel Position Sensor.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
One or both of the MAGNASTEER® actuator circuit wires become open or shorted.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
A malfunction DTC is stored. No ABS or Car Icon (TCS indicator) indicators are turned on but MAGNASTEER® is disabled. ABS/TCS remains functional.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
Condition for DTC is no longer present and scan tool clear DTC function is used.
Fifty ignition cycles have passed with no DTC(s) detected.
Diagnostic Aids
It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully and fully inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction.
An intermittent malfunction can be caused by poor connections, broken insulation, or a wire that is broken inside the insulation.
If an intermittent malfunction exists refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
Thanks Kewl, :) I just spent the entire day fooling with this car... we checked all the connections and they were good. I am going to drop it off at the dealership and take my truck tomorrow to the S&S event. Good thing this happened in San Jose... I could have been in LA tomorrow and had this happen!! :(
Thanks again to you guys for all the info!! :yesnod:  :blueangel:
I know of at least two people who have had their "Steering Wheel Position Sensor" go bad on them all of a sudden. I also heard from my mechanic that he has heard from several other shops that this is not a completely uncommon problem.
