Welcome! Check in with the guys in the C5 tech section. My guess would be wiring harness mods. Can't think of anything else.

Thanks for your reply, the more I look, the more I find that I don't have a clue. My last engine swap was in early 60's so I am up to date on electronics -- ya right!!

I have progressed in my quest for the LS1 dropin to my 99 Suburban 2 WD. I am going to hook it up to my 4L60-E after freshen up and upgrade to 4L65-E. Looking for someone in Richmond VA area to do that.

Think I can get a handle on the front setup, AC, generator, PS, water pump etc. Need to find headers that will fit and add Hp. Intend to use LS1 stock intake to start, with cable drive throttle body. This is where I run into doubt, what can I do with the throttle body, MAS, cold air intake etc. to add Hp - cost is a factor; and how does this effect tuning.

Tuning is the black hole for me and I could use advice on where to start to integrate this motor to my Suburban and have both run; fast with daily driver reliability..

I think I have coil packs (what, more than one coil - what's this world coming too) and coil wiring harness, and I have a used low mileage engine harness from a 2002 Trans Am with 4L60-E. I need to know where to hookup this harness et al. I know someone is going to tell me where to shove it, but I'm just asking for help.

I can offer help on 68 69 Vette body off restorations and parts ID in return.

That's enough for this post: Hope replies keep me busy - Thanks

What engine was in there? If it is one of the LS based Vortec engines, I would assume that the wiring/computer would. At worst, some sensors might be in a different location from where they are on the Suburban.

Luckily they are the same years. First I would get all the wiring schematics for both donor an recipient to compare. What trans was in the donor and what's in the recipient?

I just saw a program where GM offers a drop in crate engine/trans/electronics so all you have to do is drop it in anything, turn the key and go. Since you haven't really worked on modern drivetrains, this may be a better option for you.

Don't know where engine came from but had no flywheel so doesn't matter. I have flywheel and spacer for 4L60-E tranny,

GM Performance harness costly, I'm trying to work around that but might have to resort to it if all else fails. There are some local tuners who say they can do integration; I want to become sufficiently knowledgeable to follow

Well you have to watch out even with the flywheel. Some engines are internally balanced, some externally. You need to figure out what you have before you use that flywheel. This can be a money pit fast if you don't have all your ducks in a row. What's the matter with the engine in the truck now?

Anything can be fast with a big enough engine...

That was an 11.7 pass

You will definitely need an ls1 truck oil pan or other rear sump ls pan.

Interesting moment on my part, I don't recall seeing the corvette wings on my motor although I know I have to attend to that detail. Thanks for your comment.

I beginning to wonder if I am in the wrong forum: I have owned four vettes, 67, 68, 69, and 90 ZR1 and was re-living my fun by communicating with other vette owners. Also thought I could get some sound advice on bolt-on Hp and other vette tricks before dropping the LS1 into my loved suburban, but "How fast will a Suburban go?" Is a strange answer. My 97 Cobra with a set of gears lit up a few vettes and I'm sure if I mess with my LS1 a little bit, my suburban will surprise a few more. Oh well, stop light to stop light is still my passion

Maybe a suburban forum would have people that have done the swap. Or better yet:
