Does anyone know if the lower gasket for batwing oil pans are the same from 2000 to 2004? When searching for gaskets I find different part numbers. Any help and correct part numbers would be greatly appreciated. Mine is a 2000. Thanks, Rod
Apparently there is no batwing pans on 2000 corvettes. Chevy says only 2001 and up. The parts catalogs online don't have them. Seems odd that 2000 isn't the same as 2001.
Yeah, mine is a two piece batwing. I called chevy and they say they only have gaskets for 2001 and up. Gene never got back to me, and I don't want to drop the lower pan and find out there are no gaskets available. I retorqued the pan bolts and everything seems fine so I guess I won't try to change the gasket.
The reason I wanted the gasket was that I have a slight accumulation of oil along the front of the lower pan by the drain plug. Maybe 1 or 2 drops worth every 50 miles. I put a new drain plug and gasket in, tightened up the supercharger drain hose clamps and changed the oil and filter. After 100 miles there was a slight (one drop) amount on the bottom of the pan. Front seal is good, blower hose isn't leaking, drain plug is dry, and the upper pan where it meets the block has no evidence of leakage. So- - - I figured I would change the lower gasket. So I torqued all the lower bolts to 106 in. lbs. and drove in and out of boost for 25 miles with no visible oil on the pan. Some of the bolts turned 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn till I hit the torque number. I am hoping this fixed it. I am so **** about any oil leakage even if it never dripped on the floor. Thanks for the input, Rod ( PS, I would still like to know a part number or if all two piece pan lower gaskets are interchangeable. )
Personally, I like the 2 piece pan. VERY handy for cleaning the gunk out w/o removing the pan. Not something a guy would do but every few years though. My car had 80K on it when I removed it for cleaning, and gads did it need it.
If you ever remove yours, you will see why tilting the car up in the rear doesn't help get all the old oil out.....

victor reinz is showing part number OS32262 for the lower batwing on a 2000, a 2004 also has the same part number
now here's the interesting part. fel pro shows part OS30703R but that's only for 01-04. it also looks identical to the VR gasket
my best guess is that there was a change over in the 2000 model year and you either have the lower batwing gasket or you don't
the felpro is only $42 which makes it a great value buy. also permadry blue which is excellent gasket material
Check the lower pan bolts for torque. Don't over tighten! I think mine seeps around the lower pan bolts and not from the gasket. I don't know if the bolts go up where oil can follow the threads or not. Next time I change the oil, I will try a little thread sealer or teflon tape on the pan bolts. Mine doesn't get the car dirty but a slight film of oil along the front of the pan pisses me off. I like the underside clean enough to eat off of. The lower pan gasket on all batwing pans is supposed to be the same. Verify with Gene Culley. Rod
