Chuck, it would seem the radio is losing power some way or it is internal to the radio. If you want, I can send you my removed radio with cassette player to install and see if it still does it. That would narrow it down. It is the least I can do for all your help to the forum. You can just return the radio once you have solved the mystery. Mr. Sam

Car is on tender when not being driven. I pulled the battery and measure 12.94 volts across the posts. Took it to Auto Zone for a load test and it came back 100% of CCA rating and 12.9 volts. Battery is probably 2 1/2 year old....

Battery cables are clean and tight. Haven't yet been under the car to check the cable at the starter. Will do that Wed. when I change the oil and filter.

No other settings in the DIC or on the HUD fall back to default when the radio presets go away.

I have noticed some fluctuations on the DIC volt meter of late when I'm driving. Usually reads 14.2 when the car is at or above 40mph. I've seen some 13.7 and 13.9 readings and a few times 14.5 above 40mph..

Anyone have any thoughts as to what might be causing this or what else to check?

I agree! Some things to consider:

Eventhough your battery is on a tender, what is the CCA and Cold Cranking Volts when it not on the tender.

Have the battery fully tested and make sure that the output voltage doesnt drop LOW OUT OF SPEC during cranking.

Are you sure that other presets are not also being effected?? Stuff like average fuel mileage, HUD settings??

Put a volt meter on the battery output, crank the engine and see how LOW the battery output voltage drops.

Bill

I once had a radio do something similar, and turned out to be a loose fuse on the back.

If you have the stock radio, it might be a good excuse to upgrade....
