I live in MD and the roads here after the winter are horrible with pot holes and so forth. Well I hit one and cracked my rear left wheel now air is leaking. I went online to ebay and purchased a wheel not really paying much attention to the size, I bought a 18 x 10.5 rim and the factory size is a 18 x 9.5 . Would I damage anything by running this setup until I get another rim in either 18 x 9.5 or 18 x 10.5, also which size would one recommend the standard or larger size?
Your current tires are sized WIDTH WISE" for the standard rim. If you get a wider rim, the width of the bead will be different. It will make the current size tire look a little funny. It will not hurt anything mechaically BUT, the rear of the car may handle different from one side to the other or in a left and right turn. The tire may also wear a little different than it would normaly
If you get two wider rims, when you get your next set of tires you can get some rears that are a tad bit wider. It will help with traction a little .
