Is the rebuild just a stock refresher, or is there some performance in mind? If planning on power and some track time in the future, most would suggest replacing the output shafts in the diff with C6 shafts. They are the weak point in the diff. And if going that far, you could always benefit from new diff clutches and springs to bring back lost performance.

getting a performance built, and I will start to research the c6 shafts. are they a direct replacement or other parts need to be upgraded for them to work?

YES!!! You should replace the side cover seals & the large O ring that seals the tranny to the diff. I get my parts from Gene Culley www.gmpartshouse.com Call him and tell him what you need!

If you dont remove and inspect your Torque Tube Rubber Bushings (and replace them if they are bad) your doing yourself a disservice.

They commonly go bad (deteriorate and crack)

Standard MN6 or A4 Transmission???????

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I know you probably dont want to hear this but,,,,,,, you are only a few steps from a complete CLUTCH REPLACEMENT.

How many miles on the current clutch?

NOTE.. Its always easier to install the TT and then mount the Trans/diff to the TT.

Clutch has 44k on it now and I am pretty sure it's the original.. I am more then likely going to replace it while I am in there just to save time and headaches down the road.. And I was not aware you could do that with the torque tube and trans..that would definitely be a ton easier for installing

Some things to consider:

1. Install a remote bleeder!!
2. Replace the Slave Cyl, Throwout bearing and pilot bearing.
3. What do you plan on doing with the engine Mod wise? What are you end HP/Tq goals and driving plans (daily driver, race, 1/4 mile drags, etc..)

4. What are your replacement clutch plans??

5. Replace your master cylinder! Its not that expensive and if you ever take one apart and see the CRUD in a used one, you wouldnt hesatate to replace it.

6. MAKE SURE that you MATCH BALANCE your old flywheel to the new one. Match Mark the OEM flywheel position to the crank.

Hey Bill, I just ordered a new monster level2 clutch. It comes with the 28lb. billet flywheel. The engine I'm installing it on is an ls6. It did not come with a flywheel. What about the balancing?
Thanks

If you have the OLD flywheel and know where it was indexed on the crank, have the NEW flywheel off set balanced to the old one. Stick the NEW off set balanced flywheel back on the crank with the same reference point. Make sure that the machine shop explains how the new flywheel is referenced to the old one.

I you look closely at the crank, you can most likely figure out where the old flywheel was indexed. The big hole in the crank usually lines up to the big hole in the flywheel BUT,, its ALWAYS good to check.

Hope this helps
Bill

The old flywheel is not available. Now I'm concerned I will have a vibration with the ls6.

I had a forum member from Canada call me with a bad vibration issue and no OEM flywheel to off set balance to.

I recommended that he look in GOOGLE for vibration analysis companies close to his area. He did and the guy came out and dynamically rebalanced (told him where weight was needed) on the rotating assy. He added stainless steel washers under the pressure plate bolt for the required offset. He had success.

All you can do now is reassemble and hope for the best. If it has a vibration,, give the above a try.
