My understanding was if you wanted to improve shifting, you could
do it either way.

The powerloader will increase the line pressure in the transmission which will cause the shifts to happen faster. The shift kit mechanically adjusts the transmission to make the shifts more or less instantaneous. While autocrossing the powerloader helped, but was not fast enough so I went with a shift kit.
